Carlingwood receives Maxi Gold and Maple Leaf Awards from ICSC


October 17, 2007 - Carlingwood Shopping Centre was recognized by the International Council of Shopping Centres for Excellence in Marketing in Sales Promotion and Events during the council's annual convention held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Carlingwood won the honour for bringing The Fairy Princess of Carlingwood to Ottawa. The Fairy Princess, who makes the fairy dust that gives Santa Reindeer the power to fly and children good dreams, was introduced to Ottawa during the 2006 Christmas Holiday season as an additional attraction for families. Her introduction and appearances revived interest in Carlingwood's Santa Claus and other holiday activities increasing the number of shoppers in November and December. Competitors in the Sales Promotion and Events category included shopping centres from the United Kingdom, Poland, Australia, the United States and Canada.

The Fairy Princess of Carlingwood also received the Maple Leaf Award at the ICSC Canadian Shopping Centre Convention held in Toronto in September 2007.

The Fairy Princess of Carlingwood returned to receive visitors during the 2007 Christmas season. A percentage of proceeds from photograph sales were donated to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada totalling over $6,000!
